World Vision Gift Catalog Review & Giveaway

I was overjoyed to be able to share in a World Vision Gift Catalog review & giveaway. This book has always been so intriguing to me and I have been wanting to purchase something from it for years.

Whether it’s for the tax deduction or the warm fuzzy feeling giving to others generates, most Americans plan to make a charitable donation over the holiday season. In fact, nearly 60 percent of Americans say they’ll donate between Thanksgiving and Christmas, according to a survey reported in the Chronicle of Philanthropy.
With so many worthy causes, it is difficult to know where the gift can best be used.  Gifts to the World Vision Gift Catalog Maximum Impact Fund are used where resources are most desperately needed, to help children and families in struggling communities around the world. With a financial contribution, the gift giver can select one of 36 Maximum Impact items (a few are listed below) that can be given to a loved one and at the same time help a person in need.

I received my sample gift along with a catalog in the mail.
In it, you will find many gifts you can purchase for someone less fortunate than yourself. Some of the items you can choose from are goats, bunnies, ducks, a well of clean water, a year's worth of school for an orphan, fruit trees, Bibles, newborn care, a small business loan and SO much  more. There is even a section to choose gifts for families in the USA.
You can give a gift in the Maximum impact section of the gift catalog, in someone else’s honor. In exchange, you will also receive a gift to give them.
One of the gifts is the VeggieTales Incredible Vegetables DVD that I received. With a $50 purchase from the Maximum Impact catalog, you can receive this fun DVD to gift to someone you love.

There are lots of other cute & interesting gifts to choose from as well.

Here's a video that talks about how the whole process works...

I am hosting a giveaway for a lucky reader to receive their own copy of the VeggieTales DVD pictured above. Please take a look at the World Vision website and consider donating to a wonderful cause.

Sibu Beauty Age Defying Eye Cream Review & Giveaway

Thank you Sibu Beauty for the opportunity to sample a wonderful product!
Sibu Beauty is the Sea Buckthorn company. They have a very extensive and amazing product line consisting of oils, lotions, cleansers, creams, teas, capsules and much more.

I was lucky enough to try the Age Defying Eye Cream

I was very pleased with this product. It's light and soothing. You only need the tiniest amount to tap around the eye area. I can immediately feel results, the skin feels revived and refreshed. It really is amazing!

I love that their products have premium wild-crafted sea buckthorn from the Tibetan Himalayas. Some interesting information about the sea buckthorn berry is below...

High in the Tibetan Himalayas (12,000 feet above sea level) grows a tiny but resilient fruit that resists the harsh weather conditions and high altitudes. The sea buckthorn berry fortifies itself against the elements by producing an array of powerful nutrients. With over 190 bioactive compounds, sea buckthorn is an unsurpassed source of Omegas 3, 6, and 9. And it's a rich source of the elusive essential fatty acid, Omega-7, an essential fatty acid vital to collagen production and healthy skin, hair and nails.

Sea buckthorn is a natural product with 1300 years of traditional uses with the modern scientific research to back it up. Our superior processing techniques and our premium and exclusive source of sea buckthorn allow us to create a revolutionary group of beauty products.

Traditional health-related uses for the sea buckthorn berry include:

  • Sustained energy levels
  • Improved cellular health
  • Cardiovascular support
  • Healthy inflammation response
  • Joint support
  • Moisturizing dry and damaged skin
  • Improved immune health
  • Decrease in wrinkles and fine lines
  • Addressing exzema and rosacea symptoms

Another HUGE thing for me was that these products are completely free of preservatives, ALL of them. They are also paraben free and cruelty-free! All of their products are 100% natural and contain no dairy, wheat, gluten, sodium, yeast or preservatives.

There are sooo many products you can try. I highly recommend you take a look at their site. You can also follow them on Pinterest and like them on Facebook!

One of my readers is going to win their own Sibu Beauty product!! It could be you!

Puzzle Baron's Logic Puzzles, Sudoku, & The Complete Idiot's Guide to Picture Puzzles Review & Giveaway

Another fun book review & giveaway! And this time there are THREE, count 'em, three books in this prize pack!

1. Puzzle Baron's Logic Puzzles (vol 2) ($14.95)
2. Puzzle Baron's Sudoku ($9.95)
 3. The Complete Idiot's Guide to Picture Puzzles (vol 2) ($10.95)
These three brain-challenging books include a variety of puzzles for beginner through expert solvers. If the puzzles prove too difficult, there’s an answer key in each book to help.

My thoughts:
I love the feel of the books. Sturdy and nicely constructed covers. My oldest son, age 5, really enjoys the picture puzzle book. I was afraid to have him write in it, as it is a glossy paged book. They are very portable, perfect to take to soccer practice, at the beach, on road trips, etc. If you enjoy brain teasers, these are perfect for you! The puzzles range from easy to hard so there's something to appeal to anyone who loves a challenge.

WIN IT:

One reader will win their own trio of puzzle books to enjoy!

Mandatory entry: You must be a public GFC follower to qualify. Leave a comment saying you are (if you already are, it still counts as an entry)

Red Gold Tomato Products Review & Prize Pack Giveaway!

A good harvest begins with strong roots, and Red Gold can trace theirs back three generations. Red Gold began in 1942 when Grover Hutcherson and his daughter, Fran, rebuilt a Midwest cannery to provide fresh-tasting canned food products for the war effort. More than half a century later, they remain a family-owned business based in the heart of Tomato Country.

Red Gold is a private, family owned Indiana-based company around since the '40s focused on growing local in the Midwest  (Michigan, Ohio, & Indiana) where true seasons impact the flavor of tomatoes (the winters are important for the tomato soil).

I was invited to a review of Red Gold tomato products &of course, I accepted. I could always use new ideas for cooking!

I received this kit in the mail

A bottle of ketchup, 4 assorted cans of tomatoes, recipe cards, a nice BIG tote bag. a magnet & a very nice recipe book.
I searched the recipe book & found one that sounded absolutely delish...AND IT WAS! :) There were many to choose from, unfortunately for me, my kids refuse to eat tomatoes so I had to weed out the ones that are too "tomatoey".

Here's the recipe if you'd like to try it out yourself....

Ham & Tomato Rice Supper
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 10 mins

2 cups cooked ham strips
2 cups fresh broccoli florets
1 (14.5 oz) can Red Gold Diced Tomatoes Roasted Garlic & Onion
1 1/2 cups instant rice
8 oz processed American cheese (Velveeta), cubed

*Combine the ham, broccoli and undrained Red Gold Tomatoes Roasted Garlic & Onion in a large skillet & mix well. Cook, covered, over medium heat for 3 minutes. Stir in rice & cheese.

*Remove the skillet from the heat. Let stand, covered, for 7 minutes. Stir until cheese melts. Serve with apple wedges.

*Note- Yields differ between regular rice & instant rice. One cup of uncooked regular rice equals 3 cups cooked, and 1 cup of instant rice equals 2 cups cooked. Instant rice must be used in this recipe because of the amount of liquid in the recipe & length of cooking time.

What a super simple meal. I loved it & so did the kids, they hardly noticed the tomatoes. :) I highly recommend it!

BUY IT:
Red Gold products are available at select grocery stores.
The cookbook is available for $12 online.

Calabasas Candy Review & Giveaway

I was browsing Etsy.com & came across this gem of a shop.

Unique, HANDmade candies & truffles. Yuuuuum.

So I contacted Cheri of Calabasas Candy & asked if I could plleeeeease sample some of her delish merchandise. She agreed & BOY was it amazing.

She sent me a nice bag full of Lavendar Caramels, soo good!! I received them wrapped up so pretty, with a ribbon tying them closed.

Cheri makes all these candies by herself! Here's an excerpt from her etsy profile...

My name is Cheri mother of two and married to my
wonderful husband! I'm a self taught artist who has always loved art and cooking. In my first business I combined the two and started out my career as a caterer specializing in hors d' overes. After catering, I just concentrated on art and became a designer of gift items and jewelry for many years.

Last year I retired from designing and returned to my other love which is cooking. I started making candies as gifts for friends and family. When I gave some to the school counselor, she said that I had missed my calling and should make candies for a living. Well, I decided to listen to her, but did'nt know where I would sell them. My daughter told me about Etsy and set up a shop for me. I really love selling on Etsy and all the wonderful customers and friends I have made. Fellow sellers and customers have been so helpful and encouraging along the way. Thank you so much for visting my shop!

I'm telling you, these would make fabulous Christmas gifts....

Yeah, I bet you're craving some now, aren't you??

Prices start at just $5 and go up from there, so many treats to choose from!

Another CSN review!!

I <3 CSN stores! They have the most amazing variety, it's almost impossible to narrow down just what you might want. Their customer service is impeccable & I'm all around impressed.

I did a review for CSN just last month & they have given me the awesome opportunity to do another so of course I jumped on it!

I've been admiring their gorgeous drop leaf tables they have. C'mon, tell me they aren't to die for! I'm in desperate need for a new table but I dunno if I can scrounge up the cash anytime in the near future. *sigh*

As you may remember, while choosing what I would get for my last review, I won a gift card for CSN from another blog! How awesome.

I got an amazing new diaper bag & let me be honest, had a little mix-up with CSN. They sent me the same print, same brand but wrong "style" of Skip Hop diaper bag. But you know what, CSN stores made the exchange policy the simplest I've ever seen. They sent me the correct bag right away & I got it in 2 days! They had UPS pick-up the incorrect bag for no charge. Like I said, impeccable service!
Isn't it so cute???

And.....

Their shipping is super quick! Everything I ordered came within a few days. No other site has ever done that!

I can't say enough about CSN! Head on over & visit their site of over 200+ stores!

I have the hardest time finding GOOD mascara & by that I mean the kind that doesn't clump, isn't dry as soon as you open it, goes on easily & is a little bit nourishing too! This product packs it all in one little tube.

The last mascara I bought was a joke. Let's just say I won't be purchasing from Rimmel ever again. Nevertheless, I used it for at least 5 months & finally it got so terrible (if that was even possible), I had to buy a new tube & happily toss this old one.
I searched the makeup aisle at Walmart looking for something affordable (I'm sorry but I don't pay $10 for mascara!) & hoping for something decent.

What I found was my new fav mascara, I don't think I will be buying anything else!
The brush is thick but small: Perfect!
There is a perfect amount of mascara on the brush & it glides on like butter.
Not a single clump. NONE.
It is the best mascara I've found to coat the lower lashes, they look great!
You really do only need one coat but I still apply two to my top lashes because it's habit.

I'm in love.

Sells for around $6 at Walmart.

Horizon Organic Milk Boxes Review

I was given a chance to review Horizon Organic Milk Boxes (like the on-the-go ones) by BzzAgent & I have to say...

I give it a BIG thumbs up!!
I've always been in favor of organic milk & eggs because of the hormones that are in regular products. Come on, there's proof in the puddin' people. However, I have a hard time affording these items.

Horizon isn't terribly priced but obviously higher than a plain ol' gallon of milk.
The coolest thing I liked about the milk boxes is that they are shelf stable so they don't even have to be refrigerated! I put them in there anyway but hey, road trips?? Perfect!

They come in 3 different flavors- vanilla, chocolate & strawberry! We sampled chocolate & strawberry & the boys LOVED them!! In face, since there are only 3 boxes in a pack, they fought over the last one!

Horizon was founded in 1991 & was the very first company to supply ORGANIC milk nationally! Now that's cool.
BUY IT:

They retail for apx $3.89 (at my local Walmart) for a 3 pack

DISCOUNT!!

The first person to comment on this post that they LOVE organic milk & would love some awesome coupons,  I will send my stockpile of coupons to you! Pretty sure I have 4 of them, each $1.50 off!

Or if a couple people reply, I guess I will split them up to be fair :)

My Opinion

They are slightly expensive for me to buy regularly & I find it a better deal just to buy a carton of their milk instead.

They have a great tasting milk that children LOVE. (mine sure did!)

Organic is always better!

BzzAgent provided me with the coupons to try out this review. I was not paid to write this review or influenced in any way, it is completely honest.

On a side note, my oldest lil guy is starting preschool tomorrow :) I'm so nervous but excited for him. I'm not sure why I'm even nervous, he's used to being away from me because of work & he's used to other kids at daycare....so I know he'll be fine. I just hope he behaves & makes some new friends.

I'm also super sad because I won't even be able to drop him off. I have to work instead...stupid job. I <3 you baby boy big boy, I know you'll do fine but it doesn't keep a mama from worryin her little heart out! What will I do when it's Kindergarten time??
